Community-based learning entails engaging the community in education experiences, to build students’ civic responsibility and citizenship skills, as well as benefit the community directly. However, this requires careful stakeholder identification and community guiding in engaging all stakeholders in an equal dialogue. Collaboration on curriculum development with the community ensures better capacity for reciprocity, and builds life-long connections. It is important to consider personal values and empathy in curriculum making, and creating education that matters to the students.
