Participation at the political level
At the political level, it is important to involve non-political experts in the process of creating curriculum and similar processes. This is a key part of social participation in education. These experts should be recognised in a systematic and institutional way, not just on an ad hoc basis. Choosing these experts carefully, based on their profiles, qualifications and experience, is crucial. Ideally, they should have both theoretical and practical knowledge of education, and be familiar with the realities of both higher and general education. On the other hand, the role of political actors should be limited to setting the general directions and framework of the curriculum, without getting involved in the details and specifics. This would avoid the risk of micro-management and manual control, which often leads to the education system becoming overly ideologised and politicised.
