Social innovation and empowerment
Formal education can seem resistant to innovation and change, yet creative forms of teaching and learning are gaining more and more attention. Social innovation is often used on the small scale, and wider governance structures do not correspond with small-scale changes. Democracy and sustainability go hand-in-hand – youth civic engagement, citizen empowerment and democratic values should be inherently linked with social innovation in education and student empowerment.
