Model inclusion of variuos organisational forms
It is crucial that the process for introducing new content into schools allows for flexibility not only in the content itself, but also in how it’s delivered – in terms of both teaching and organisation. Different content may require different methods, meaning the methods that are most effective for conveying it.
Therefore, procedures should allow for lessons outside as well as inside the classroom, lessons that are longer or shorter than standard classes, and block courses taught in less than a full school year. They should also allow for combining different subjects, mixing year groups, and having only a portion of the students participate in a project.
Many of the procedures we analysed allow for such changes, especially those that require approval from an authority above the level of the school.
